HP-UX WeB Server Configuration

Hi Friends

Kindly suggest me what is the use of WEBSERVER
in HPUX, is it better to configure WEB SERVER
on HPUX or LINUX.

Friends, send me some good doc's on webserver

I suppose the real question would be what do you have for HW and you do you intend to do?
What HP 9000 have you running what hpux, what is your linux server?

I have HP 9000 servers and Itanium servers i can install both 11i v2 and RedHat 4 on Itanium, but i do not have any idea on
webserver.

We have large number of PA-RISC and ITANIUM servers of midrange.

Its very urgent.

There is very little practical difference to running a web server on Linux versus HP-UX. Apache can be run on many flavors of Linux. HP has ported it to HP-UX and you can compile it on HP-UX.

The apache webserver is the most popular web server for Unix/Linux. There are literally hundreds of other web servers that perform the same function or fit into some nitch.

I think hp-ux is a more mature and stable platform than Linux, and have extensive experience on both platforms.

HP-UX provides a good bundle with its apache distribution/port to hp-ux

You shoud already hve apache installed in /opt/apache in HPUX11i
All documentation can be found in the Apache htdocs/doc subdirectory.

You have everything there to quikly start a web server....

I am a linux person and i dunno much about HP-UX.

WEB SERVERS on Linux are more popular than on HP-UX (please understand i am not comparing any security, speed and other technical issues).

Also Apache is available for Linux (dont know about HPUX)

So,
Youv' found /opt/apache ?
cd conf; make a safe copy of httpd.conf, then
Vi httpd.conf and try to configure it very simple
You will need to add your server - IP somewhere
define what directory you want to show to the WEB


Thats all for now

To see it work
in /sbin/init.d start it:
./apache start
If you filled correctly httpd.conf this should be a success

NOw try to acces your server using http
If you cant you may be having trouble with proxies configuration....

Thanks for your kind suggestion, there is no
apache installed in my HPUX 11i serverm, am using HPUX 11.11 on 9000 model.

Even i prefer to configure WEBSERVER on HPUX and i am going to strat now, but i strongly
belive to understand the concept so that
i can execute once after preparing my self docs.
