HP-UX with SAS raid controller

I have a new rx6600,running HP-UX 11.23, with an 8 port SAS raid controller and 8 internal disk drives. I would like to configure these drives using the SAS controller instead of Mirrordisk/UX.
The issues I am having are that the SAS controller will only allow me to make RAID1 groups, and will only allow me to make 2 groups. This uses up 4 of 8 drives, leaving the other 4 drives unconfigured. Is there any way to set these other drives up in a RAID configuration using theb SAS controller?

Re: HP-UX with SAS raid controller

Joe,

Heres a quote from the HP config guide for the rx6600:

Core PCI-X 8-port Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) host bus adapter supports up to two internal RAID-1 volumes (2Ã 2 HDDs)
and a disk for global hot spare, for a maximum of five disks in RAIDed arrays for HP-UX and OpenVMS. The additional
three drives (of the maximum of eight drives supported) can be accessed normally, but not configured for RAID.

So I'd read that as a no.

And the same text is in the quickspecs here:

2nd bullet of the 'At a glance' section.

That was what I understood too. It just didn't seem to make too much sense to me though.

Thanks.
