hpnpf consumes 100 % CPU

Hi,

This process hpnpf has been consuming 100 % CPU. Despite killing upto 10 such processes. Immediately another is spawned.

Need help for a temporary as well as permanent solution

ps -ef shows as follows

This is a printer process for network printing

Must be a bad process somewhere

hpnpf - network peripheral filter

SYNOPSIS
hpnpf -x peripheral [ -nNRvw ] [ -a type ] [ -j jobid+userid ] [ -l
logfile ] [ -p port ] [ -s status-file ] [ file ...]

DESCRIPTION
hpnpf is a specialized TCP driver for driving network printers. A
network printer is a printer attached to the local area network via
its JetDirect interface, JetDirect EX, or HP XStation.



Use the disable command to disable the printer causing it

lpshut

ps -ef|grep lp

kill any remaining porcesses owned by lp

cd /var/spool/lp

rm FIFO SCDHEDLOCK if there
lpsched

Thanks for the quick response

If I need to shut the printer, then according to man page its -x the peripheral

Which has all different rpinter names?
