Re: hpux 10.20 and nis+

HP-UX 10.20 does not support NIS+
In fact, 10.20 itself is no longer supported.
If you wish to use NIS+ you should upgrade to HP-UX 11x

Re: hpux 10.20 and nis+

I might add that NIS+ is quite complicated on the platforms it is supported on. Sun isn't putting much effort into making it easier.

For most situations, you're better off with regular NIS or LDAP. A lot of organizations are going LDAP to have users with one logon that works for Microsoft, Unix, Email, Oracle Apps, etc.

Of more importance long term is that 10.20 is no longer supported.

Thought should be going into how to get your systems that can run it into the 11.X world.

Hi Jan,

If your interested in ldap, you can download it here for free. It runs on 11.X not 10.X

There is a manual for ldap at www.docs.hp.com

Steven is correct that SUN is not going to be doing much work on NIS+, HP will not be porting it to 11.22 but does support it on 11.0 11.11.
