hpux 10.20 to 11.0 upgrade

Hello

My client would like to know the benefits of upgrading to 11.0. They are currently running Oracle databases on the
system. Can someone point me to a resource / document
that lists benefits of 11.0. Also do oyu have an upgrade guide / lessons learnt from upgrade process.

Do we need to migrate the databases or will they come up just fine.

You can refer to this link which will give you all information required for moving to 11.x.

However to put things in a nutshell.
If you want to address memory more than 4 gb and you are planning to shift from a 32 bit to 64 bit operating environment and plan getting a new system which is 64 bit you will benefit form moving to 11.x.
Even if you want to stay with 32 operating environment you can still go to 32 bit 11.x you may get some few added features but I cant assure any performance improvement.

As far as upgrade procedure goes.Recommended procedure is to fresh install 11.x and import 10.x volume groups.

You dont say what machine you are running on. Oracle will need upgrading to a version that runs under hp-ux 11.xx; this is not that hard to do as the migration facility will find the old data base and upgrade it. Just make sure you have backups etc and plan the up grade.
