I have a customer with a rp4640 running hpux 11.11 patched and is thinking to add this server to a san EMC DMX800 storage.
The purpose is to see the performance of the RP server but he need disk space.
If everything is ok the after is planning to replace all his DMXs by EVAs or XPs storages.
My question is
Is necessary to install some software in the rp4640 to see the LUNs presented in the DMX storage for the RP machine?
HPUX use pvlink for the multipath ,but some other software is necessary for that the rp4640 reach the LUNs from the DMX.
Thank you comments are welcome.
My first time trying with non HP storage.

SolutionOnce you get the HBA configured, you need no additional software to see the LUNS.
Present the lun to the system with correct WWN
insf -C disk
ioscan -fnC disk
To leave the LUN in a good state its best to have the previous machine vgexport it.
Then you can use vgimport to bring the LUN in without losing the data on it.

Re: hpux 11.11 attached to a DMX800
We have rp7410 and rp4440s - and they can see the 800's just fine.

Re: hpux 11.11 attached to a DMX800
So you shouldn't have any issue with 5.1

Re: hpux 11.11 attached to a DMX800
I do not believe firmware as presented will be an issue.
