Re: hpux 11.11 : hard disk failure

You need to place a case with HP for this , if you have any support contract with HP.

Are you getting this alerts again and again.

I think this is an informational event for any of the disk failure which has been recovered automatically and is up and available now.

Thanks,

SKR

Re: hpux 11.11 : hard disk failure

can anyone shed some light on some good hpux commands to gather and check status of the 5 disk array?

Hi,

Post the output of:

#ioscan -fn
#dmesg

Re: hpux 11.11 : hard disk failure

The messages are coming from your Smartarray controller - this is a hardware RAID.

Inspect your /dev/ciss_ driver (for example /dev/ciss3) from ioscan -fn

and perform

# sautil /dev/ciss3
# saconfig /dev/ciss3

and post the result.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: hpux 11.11 : hard disk failure

I guess you can find it by yourself.

N/A 1 0 N/A N/A FAILED
external 1 1 DISK 72.8 GB OK
external 1 7 PROCESSOR
external 3 0 DISK 72.8 GB OK
external 3 1 DISK 72.8 GB OK
external 3 2 DISK 72.8 GB SPARE (activated)

Do you see the first line?

Participating Physical Disk(s)...... Ch:ID
1: 0 <-- NOT RESPONDING

This disk is bad and needs replacement - spare disk is activated.

Do you see a red LED?

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
