I have a RP3440 running HPUX B.11.23 U 9000/800
I have the disks defined from an EVA3000 SAN.
I need to increase the size of one of my disk partitions (LVM) so I increased the size of the disk at the SAN.
What is the next step for the HPUX to see the disk increase?
Thanks in advance.

Re: HPUX not recognising EVA3000 Disk increase
Fast way:
Boot the hpux box
Slow way:
play with ioscan. It should be possible to get disk space recognized on an EVA without booting.
I've honestly made it happen accidently a few times but didn't document the steps.

Re: HPUX not recognising EVA3000 Disk increase
The easiest way to increase the size of a VG/LV is to create a new LUN and then do your VGEXTEND to add it to the VG and then an lvextend and fsadm to extend the LV and increase the filesystem.

Re: HPUX not recognising EVA3000 Disk increase
Sounds like I have to recreate a LUN.

Re: HPUX not recognising EVA3000 Disk increase
No you don't have to create new volume group.
Ask HP support for unsupport script, the name is
vgmodify
--increase the LUN in your EVA3000
ex: to 10GB
if your physical drive was default at 16 when created volume group, then run as below to reduce it
#vgmodify â p 3 /dev/vgSUNWK (reduce physical drive in volume group to 3 to gain more VGRA on the header)
#./vgmodify â d 10g /dev/vgtest (increase disk vgtest to 10g need to de-activate the volume group)
Works everytime in my environment
HP-UX 11.11 & EVA3000
Hope this helps!

Re: HPUX not recognising EVA3000 Disk increase
you don't have to create a new LUN, just increase it.
