Re: HPUX Sendmail Question

Yes, if you want to send a mail from systemA to systemB, there is no need for sendmail daemon to be running on SystemA. The daemon needs to be running on SystemB, where the mail is destined to.

It's the client-server concept. The system from which you are sending mail is the client.
So, any command (mail, mailx, elm) would do to send the mail.

Re: HPUX Sendmail Question

You can use any unix mail client such as mail mailx elm or pine to send mail without the sendmail daemon running.

However the machine that you are sending to must have sendmail or some other mail server program running such as postfix or qmail.

Hope this helps.
