Re: HPWORLD 2003

Hi Berlene,

At first inquiry I was shot down point-blank. After seeing the notice that those of us w/certs get a $1000 discount the odds look *much* better. I promise I will do everything in my power to be there...short of paying it ALL outta my pocket. I'm a Yank & I have my standards after all! And it doesn't help that I'm about to write a BIG check for a new home purchase.....

Cheers,
Jeff (Hot 'lanta here I come!...I hope)

Re: HPWORLD 2003

With the impending doom of MPE upon us, our impetus to go is greatly diminished :( Wish I could go swing the trip, though. It's always great to meet the online folks in person..

Re: HPWORLD 2003

Berlene,

I would love to go. Unfortunately, our travel budget has been frozen, does not look any better for the coming year.

Guess my HP World attendance will be virtual this year.

Re: HPWORLD 2003

Hi there.
Thanks for info.
Asked my boss to give me a special assignment in our company's head city, but he shook his head meaning NO.
So all of you who meet there, have some good fun.

Re: HPWORLD 2003

I've got my registration confirmation...

It looks really nice to have them drop off the leading '1' on the price just because of the cert.

Anyone else decide to go?

Pete, Rita, Clay, etc Are you guys all going to be there?

Re: HPWORLD 2003

Wanted to get this back to the top.... It looks like many of you are seeing the same budget crunch I am. I'm seriously contemplating flipping the bill for this one myself. I even got my certs just to cut the cost in half. Now I have to tackle the hotel costs.

Well, can anyone speak from experience and let me know if the value of attending exceeds the cost. I'm all alone here with a bunch of mainframers and windows people and don't get to talk Unix much, except in reading the forum. I thought HP World might be a good place to start.

Re: HPWORLD 2003

Something to keep in mind, if you do have to foot the bill yourself, which I'm also contemplating, you MAY be able to deduct the expenses for it from you income tax for this year. Not much help now, but it could help when April 15 comes around next year.

Re: HPWORLD 2003

The value VERY FAR exceeds the cost, especially when you are working in a vacuum...

You will learn lots in the sessions, (Hard to bold 'lots'... Except my session, of course. ;) ) they hold NDA sessions about strategic direction, the expo has all kinds of vendors pawning wares, HP has many, many, many demos of both free and add-on SW to help you in your job. See the link that Pete gave at the top of the post. Clay Stephenson gave a very good justification here in the forums about HP World for last year's trip. (Or the year before? I forget, but it still applies.)

Hope it helps

HI Patrick,

Glad to hear it!
Great news...have a super time!

Unfortunately, I'm still in limbo here.
We have a staff mtg tomorrow, hopefully I'll find out then - we'll see.

Best Rgds,
Jeff
