I cannot download Ignite-UX from HP web

I cannot download Ignite-UX from HP web. After filling up a form, I press download button, but no download is started.

You'll notice that on submit you are directed to an ftp link.

You have ftp access.

i went to the site : http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html and i didnt have any problem to download it .

if you will have more problem i can put the tar file in a ftp site if you have this .

tell me if you have any more problem

On submittal of acceptance you are redirected to an ftp url:

ftp://www.software.hp.com/dist/swdepot/ignite11_11.00.tar

for example.

If you're behind a firewall, you may have to gosocksified.

I've complained about that before, because I'm behind a firewall that only allows proxy ftp. Why they can't provide an HTTP link is beyond me, I guess that happens when you have rookies developing web sites.

Hi,

If you can use ftp from your system to the outside, try this,


ftp software.hp.com
username : anonymous
password : your_email_address
bin
cd dist/swdepot
get ignite11_11.00.tar
bye

This will download the file

ftp://www.software.hp.com/dist/swdepot/ignite11_11.00.tar

as suggested by Bill in the link above. Or your can download the file of your choice depending on the version of OS.

You can install Ignite-UX software from the Aplication CD : "HP-UX 11.00 application software", cd 3 of 5.

Harry, I don't claim to be a specialist in this, but we are also behind a firewall and (AFAIK) we also use proxy FTP, but I have no problems with ftp://... URLs in my (web)browser.

Which browser do you use and which error do you get?

Hopefully you are not just a victim of IE's 'strange' FTP settings.

As Frank mentioned, if you are using IE 5 or later, there is a very well-known bug that (to my knowledge has never been fixed) that causes hangs for ftp sites everywhere.

Workarounds:

- never use IE for ftp (Netscape, Opera, even lynx will work)

- click on Tools -> Internet options -> Advanced tab, then uncheck (that means leave a blank) in front of: Enable folder view for FTP sites
