idisk: write of requested data failed(6)
We have an older rx3600 itanium server running HPUX 11.23. I have created an IgniteUX tape from it, and trying to reboot from the tape onto a new rx3600 server that we just bought but it is failing. The new server came with 11.31 loaded on a P400 smart array and a Storageworks Ultirum 1760 drive.
The Ignite process seems to work initially, but then eventually throws these errors:
idisk: write of requested data failed(6)
idisk: failed destroying old alternate GPT
ERROR: idisk command failed
WHat I'm wondering is if the 11.23 o/s is too old, or the version of Ignite that I'm using and it doesn't have current enough drivers to recognize the new hardware? Here is the current patch level from swlist:

Re: idisk: write of requested data failed(6)
Maybe the RAID driver is missing?
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: idisk: write of requested data failed(6)
Possibly. The existing 11.23 server also has a P400 array, so it seems like it ought to be there. The Ignite restore also threw some messages about unknown processor model, etc...
I think I will start by upgrading the existing version of Ignite-UX on the 11.23 box and then create a new recovery tape. If that doesn't get it, I will attempt to upgrade 11.23 to the latest hardware enablement patch bundle and then create another tape.
Do you guy know, does Ignite includs all the latest drivers itself, or does it just use what you have installed in the o/s?
