Can IEEE 802.3 support topologies other than "Bus Topology"?

IEEE 802.3 -> 10BaseT/10BaseFL ethernet when used in an active hub/switch configuration is "star".

The original standard defined a bus topology, so in this case, no. The evolution of this standard became the ethernet standard, which uses a star topology. So, the original definition only supported bus while the ethernet standard supports star.

Chris, maybe I should have asked if he was talking about 802.3 (u) - or what ever version they are on now :-))
