IGMP version

Hello,

is IGMP capability set up at a network card level or at operating system level? How would i know wether my system is using IGMPv1 or IGMPv2?

IGMP is setup on a card level.

Actually, you may refer to this link. It will give you more info. Some important points i am listing below.

Multicast addresses are in the range
224.0.0.0 through 239.255.255.255. Addresses 224.0.0.0 through 224.0.0.255 are reserved, and address 224.0.0.1 is permanently assigned to the all
hosts group

Class D IP addresses are identified as IP multicast addresses

You will have to configure your network card for the CLASS D configuration instead of A, B or C.

First of all IGMP capability has to be supported by a operating system for the network
card driver to run IGMP.
