My Ignite backup is failing on itanium based server, it is rx8620 and OS version is 11.23. I am getting the following mesg in /var/opt/ignite/recovery/date/recovery.log file:

pax: Ready for volume 2
pax: Type "go" when ready to proceed (or "quit" to abort): ^G
pax: Unable to prompt user: /dev/tty is unavailable.
WARNING: The pax command returned a non-zero exit status (exit status 1).
ERROR: The find_files command failed (exit status 141).

ERROR: The make_sys_image command failed. The system recovery archive will
not be created.

Re: Ignite back up failed

Do you run this by cron or by script in general?

The archive is too big for 1 tape, ignite want to ask you for a second, but can not do this (because it was run in a script).

1) too much data for 1 tape
or
2) bad tape

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Ignite back up failed

Hi Wagar,

This is not a error related to tape. Its related to pax. Pls check the man pages for pax. what is the function of it. And try to corelate with ur senario.
