Re: Ignite backup in Service Gurad

Hi,

Sure it is possible to create ignite backups of 6 cluster nodes. But i would only use them for vg00. The other vg's ( SAN disks) i would backup with an other backup tool, like Omniback / Legato / etc...
An ignite backup of a running database e.g. is useless.

Yes i agree with G. Vrijhoeven, I am using OMniback and Ignite both.
We use ignite specifically for Igniting clients, upgradation and for recovery purpose.

Omniback is the best Software to back up all other Volume groups other than VG00.
You need to know a lot to actually know how little you know

Re: Ignite backup in Service Gurad

Hi,

To take ignite backup of vg00 only, you can run # make_tape_recovery -i
(For Interactive mode)
and select your tape device and entire vg00
. You may select other VGs, but there is no point when apps are running.

and if you want other volume groups
then it depends what kind of apps are you using in MC/ServiceGuard packages/fs are you using?.

I personally prefer to use HP Open View Data Protector software for any type of fs/packages.

Cheers..
