IGNITE: Cannot create SYSCMDS

Here is the error message I am receiving after attempting a make_tape_recovery.
The current size of /var/tmp is 1gig with 99% available.
lifcp: Cannot create SYSCMDS ; no space on the LIF volume
make_medialif: error - lifcp SYSCMDS failed, probable insufficient size for /var
/tmp/uxinstlf.recovery
ERROR: System Error, /opt/ignite/bin/make_medialif failed creating boot LIF
file.
ERROR: Failed to generate LIF on tape .

Points gratefully given.
Thanks for any/all help on this one.

Re: IGNITE: Cannot create SYSCMDS

Are you using Ignite/UX version B.3.7.95?

If so, install make_medialif patch (see below) or alternatively upgrade to the latest Ignite/UX version ( http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/)

PHSS_27407 for 11.00
PHSS_27406 for 11.11

From patch notes for PHSS_27406:
JAGae31512:
The make_tape_recovery, make_recovery, and make_medialif commands may fail with the messages "no space on the LIF volume" and "lifcp SYSCMDS failed, probable insufficient size for /var/tmp/uxinstlf.recovery".

The space allocation for the LIF volume was too small to accommodate growth of the install kernels. The size of the LIF volume was increased.
