IGNITE ERROR ON MAKE_TAPE_RECOVERY

Hi
I am getting this error when I am performing a Make_tape_recovery. Could anything be wrong ? I know the tape is OK since I can write to it. And the make_net_recovery works.
Also I want to make it know that I am running version 5.4.50 of ignite. The system is 11.00 OS. I however dont have the patch PHSS_27406.

Here is the error I am getting ::::
make_medialif: error - /opt/ignite/data/Rel_B.11.00/SYSCMDS does not exist, is not a regular file or is not readable
ERROR: System Error, /opt/ignite/bin/make_medialif failed creating boot LIF
file.
ERROR: Failed to generate LIF on tape .

Hi Richard,

This is or was a bug in the ignite version 6, resoltion was to install Ignite-UX package containing all the OS's.

It looks like an incomplete partial Ignite install.

Ignite is packaged so that in order to upgrade you must first remove the previous version. This takes out the config files, so some people don't do it. Its better to back up the configuration files and then swremove and swinstall ignite.

That recommendation is precisely what I'd say should be done.

swlist -l product | grep -i ignite

Make sure its all swremoved before installing anew.

B4 I re-install ignite, I wanted to let you know that the system is an older system running hpux 11.00 and that it is a client not the ignite server. So my concern is would this version work as a client or as a server ????

First I un-installed the older version ig Ignite from the system. Then I downloaded the 11.00 version only, tried to install it but it failed. So I downloaded the whole bundle including that for 11i. This I selected the module for 11:00. It worked. The bundle is

Ignite-UX-11-ALL_C.6.7.79.depot

So to crown it all, NO it DOES NOT require a reboot.
