Re: Ignite from L2000 on L1000
If I remember correct, the first L-class was both 32 and 64 bits capable, later models included a firmware version making the L-class 64 bits only.
If your L2000 is running 10.20 you should first have a look at the firmware and compare that revision with the firmware revision on the L1000.
Have a look at below document.

Re: Ignite from L2000 on L1000
I vote that this should work find,( all disclaimers apply due to the age of the OS ).
Your best bet is to just try it.

Re: Ignite from L2000 on L1000
As say Victor, you must test your restore before a possible crash, you and your boss 'll can sleep better after ;)
Except a pbs on /dev/dsk names files whose are different with /etc/checklist it should work.
Regards.

As with most ignite tasks, try it and see.

Re: Ignite from L2000 on L1000
run
# model
# uname -a
and post!
General advise:
take a backup, restore to the other system, adjust the IP and test - you will be sure.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Ignite from L2000 on L1000
L-Class systems run HP-UX 11.00 and higher (not the latest 11i v3 though) and certainly not 10.20
I think it's best to check first what type of system(s) you have exactly and make really sure which HP-UX you're running.

Re: Ignite from L2000 on L1000
To check if you 10.20 version is on 64 bids please run:
getconf KERNEL_BITS
to check if you have a special L2000 that can run 32 bids please run a
/var/opt/ignite/local/host.info
If you do this on your L1000/L2000 class and it shows can_run_32bit=TRUE
It shoult be save, testing is ofcause always the best way to sleep ok....
Please post the
/var/opt/ignite/local/host.info
of the two nodes?

Re: Ignite from L2000 on L1000
I agree that the only way to be sure is to try it out and that is what I plan to do. I just wanted to check beforehand that there were no show shoppers that would mean I was wasting my time.
As for the L2000 on HP-UX 10.20, I need to check that out. I do not have access to the servers at the moment and was just going on what I was told was running on the box. I guess I shouldn't be so trusting in the future.

Re: Ignite from L2000 on L1000
Suppose the 10.20 system really exists and it's let's say a D or K-Class.
Let's also suppose the other system really is a L1000.
Just like the L2000 the L1000 is not capable of running 10.20 so you would still be wasting time....
If you want to know beforehand how big a risk you have of wasting time you need to know at least what kind of systems are involved.
