Ignite - list itanium tape files
HI,
I've listed the contents of an itanium ignite tape:
mt -f /dev/rmt/1mn rew
mt -f /dev/rmt/1mn fsf 22
tar -tvf /dev/rmt/1mn
However the backup has two tapes. I've listed the contents of the first one.
Does anyone knows how to list the contents of the second tape?
Regards,
Joao Rei

Re: Ignite - list itanium tape files
Hi Joao:
For your second tape, I believe that you simply treat it as a normal 'tar' archive on a tape. That is, do _not_ skip the boot LIF since there is none.
This said, I would ascertain why your Ignite recovery tape requires multipe tapes. Ignite is intended for the restoration of vg00 and its standard HP-UX logical volumes. While you can include additional volume groups and/or directories, this is not desirable.
Ignite is not meant to be a data backup tool; rather it is intended for the recovery of a functional operating system only.
If you are using old tapes (e.g. DDS2 or DDS3) you may be unnecessarily constraining yourself if your vg00 contents are large.
Regards!
