Solution
An Ignite backup is used to restore an OS. There is no such thing as APA without a complex set of drivers and configurations running under HP-UX. The computer can only boot from a simple LAN card. This isn't an Ignite limitation, it is limited by the processor ROMs.

Re: Ignite-UX and APA
Hi,
Does Ignite-UX support Auto-Port Aggregation (APA)?
A: No. Clients whose primary LAN is configured with HP Auto-Port Aggregation, APA, bundle tag J4240AA, can only be successfully installed with /opt/ignite/bin/bootsys if the LAN is deaggregated during the bootsys process. During the HP-UX installation process, the APA software is not present and therefore the virtual LAN configuration is not valid.
Also, on systems that only have an APA network interface, during an Ignite-UX recovery operation the Ignite user interface (itool) will not display any networking information.
If a system has an auto port aggregate (APA) configured, Ignite-UX does not support cloning using that recovery archive. It is only supported to recover the archive to the system on which it was created. This assumes that the lan interfaces are still configured for APA, on the switch they are connected to, in exactly the same way as when the archive was created.
