ignite-ux server problem

We are facing an error while creating ignite recovery server. The machine is a L-Class server and I am adding a client machine which is again a L-Class server to this Ignite-ux server. filesystem /var is of 6.5 Gb and 6 Gb space is available. Getting following error in "Build the archieve" step :-

gzip : stdout : file too large
error : the gzip command failed [exit status 1]

Do you have largefile systems turned on, and check the version of gzip?

Re: ignite-ux server problem

IIRC largefiles isn't enabled on filesystems by default. (why? This is one of the areas where HP-UX falls down in usability!)

If the resulting file is greater than 2Gbyte's you will get this message.

To check use:
# fsadm -F vxfs /dev/vg00/rlvol8
(of course replacing lvol8 with whatever you need) To set us:
# fsadm -F vxfs -o largefiles /dev/vg00/lvol8

Re: ignite-ux server problem

Hi,

You will probably have to upgrade gzip to this version:

http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/hppd/hpux/Gnu/gzip-1.3.3/

Ignite itself is still relying on third party gzip.
Probably will be changed in the future.

Re: ignite-ux server problem

hi,
what is your version of gzip ?.
The beta version 1.3.3 already includes a sufficient patch; use this version if you have to handle files larger than 2 GB.

Re: ignite-ux server problem

Hi Guys,

I have enabled "largefiles" option using fsadm. I have also checked for gzip it's older one . Right now I am in the process of downloading 1.3.3 version..

But I have a query - exactly how much free space is required in /var partition if I have to create recovery server for 3 L-Class servers.

Re: ignite-ux server problem

I would suggest that instead of keeping the archives under /var, Create a separate filesystem of 6 GB or so and mount it under the specific directory where it keeps the archive.

Normally it takes around 1.5GB, again it depends on the contents of VG00, since you will be taking the full backup.

Re: ignite-ux server problem

Hi Clemen,

Sorry for the late . I was out of teh town. I am successful after enabling "largefiles" and installing gzip of 1.3.3 v. Also i have created another partition of 10 GB for ignite archives and creation went successful..

Thanks all of you.
