Ignite-UX with DLT Tape

Can someone point me to information regarding the requirements for being able to boot from an Ignite-UX tape using DLT-7000 or DLT-8000 tape drives? Specifically for R390, L1000, L2000, and N4000 machines. I seem to remember that there may be certain interface requirements.

Re: Ignite-UX with DLT Tape

I dont think DLT tapes not supported with ignite/ux. I know the response center has always told me that only DDS are supported and make sure you use the no-rewind device.

Re: Ignite-UX with DLT Tape

I did this succesfully. The only problem at the time, was that the drive was connected by a fibre bridge. To do the restore, the drive had to be direct SCSI connected.

I could make the Ignite tape while it was fibre attached. But I had to rewire a direct connect for the restore. This may not be necessary with more current versions and patches.

Re: Ignite-UX with DLT Tape

Has anyone else sucessfully created and booted off a ignite DLT tape? i was under the impression that you could not do it with DLT.

Re: Ignite-UX with DLT Tape

I, too, have successfully created and completely restored a system from a DLT4000. The machine was a J5000 running either HP-UX 11 or 11i, I can't remember now.

Re: Ignite-UX with DLT Tape

It depends on the interface, not drive, see this posting.
