ignite-UX

Hi,
Does anyone know how to run ignite-ux after installation of this utility and pax patch PHCO_20416? How to check if it was installed properly? Do I need to install it on each HP-UX box(we have six servers)or just one? Thanks.

Re: ignite-UX

Hi:

You use 'swinstall' to install both Ignite and the 'pax' patch. You can verify that each are installed thusly:

# swlist -a state -l fileset | grep -i Ignite
# swlist -a state -l fileset PHCO_20416

You want to see "configured" reported.

You want to install Ignite on each of your servers to give you the ability to create recovery tapes. To make a recovery tape of your boot disk (vg00), use this:

# make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mn

Note the "no-rewind" tape device file specification.

BTW, with current versions of Ignite, make_tape_recovery verifies that your 'pax' patch level is correct.

Re: ignite-UX

Hi guys,
Thanks for your great help. I have checked my installation of Ignite-UX which is running now according to your guidance. My next step should be install ignite-ux on our other hp-ux machines. Use one as a server and others as clients. Right? Make a recovery tape for each of the machine? Should I use brand new tapes or I can take a used tape for that? It is said that the ignite-ux using a different format( I am not sure). Our servers are running HP-UX B. 11.00. I would like to try fbackup and frecover. What are the related commands to rewind the tape, check the contents of the tape etc. Any suggestions to perform this?

p.s. Since this is the first time for me to join this Forums, please forgive me if any mistakes exist to perform this process.

Re: ignite-UX

With Ignite verson 3.3, you can do archives across the network.
make_net_recovery -i -s Ignite_server

To recover, you would interrupt the bootup and
enter
boot lan.IP_address_Ignite_server install
