Ignite UX

Hi All,

I am trying to setup the following newly. Could you please guide me how to do?

1) One L3000 server to hold all the make_net_recovery image. This also will act as ignite server. But currently it doesn't have any golden or OS images.(running 11.23). Not planning to create any OS images on this server.

2) We have another L3000 test server. I would like to take make_net_recovery image of this server and try restoration both by using bootsys command and to do "bo lan.x.x.x.x install". (11.23)

3) We have B1000 server having OS images running 11.11 (on different subnet)

Both L3000 servers have two LAN interfaces, one connected to production network and the other to backup network.

a)I want the network traffic to go through the backup interface while taking net_recovery image. (both L3000 backup interfaces are in same subnet)

b) The production interfaces are on different subnet. Can I use the backup interface for restoration? This is not a CORE-LAN

If you can help me with the step by step procedures, it will be much of a help.

With thanks & regards,

Re: Ignite UX

Shalom,

HP had great docs on this:

Re: Ignite UX

The interface used to boot and restore an image from an Ignite server must be on the same subnet as the server (unless a boot helper is used) and must be the core LAN interface. Performing a LAN boot using other than a core interface is not supported.

You should use only core interfaces on the same subnet for your backup/recovery network. Use an add-in interface for your production network.

Re: Ignite UX

" The interface used to boot and restore an image must be the core LAN interface "

Does anybody know if that restriction that we had in, the PA-RISC systems like the L3000
,to use the core lan card for igniting
still exists on newer Integrity servers like the rx8640 or is just any LAN card will do ?

Thx
