Hello all
I do ignite network backups. The clients using ignite 5.4.50 on hpux 11.11 and the backup server is the same.
I recently added 2 IA64 servers running HPUX 11.23 into the network and want to backup the same way.
I understand that the same version ignite is required for both servers
Is there a 5.4.50 ignite for Itanium ? If not how do I proceed with this .
Thanks John

Solution
Yes you can make use of the same version of IG-UX for Integrity servers.
Refer the release notes at
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/IUX/docs/Cver_release_note.html
From the notes:
The B.5.4 release of Ignite-UX supports the HP-UX 11i (B.11.11) PA-RISC release, the 11i v1.6 (B.11.22) release, and 11i v2 (B.11.23) Itanium-based release. It can be installed on either PA-RISC or Itanium-based Ignite-UX servers.

Re: Ignite versions
Shalom
Version 5.4.50 is not a great choice for overall Ignite stability.
It certainly is better than the recalled 5.3.x version but you may find greater stability in the 6.x range.
Its a tough call because technically every time you upgrade Ignite you may need to run a small disaster recovery test.
Itanium does have different restore procedures with Ignite and once in a while an actual DR test of Ignite with reasonable servers is called for.

Re: Ignite versions
Thanks for the info. It is a big job to put a new version but will probably do it early next year.
I successfully recovered a server last month using this version so I know it works.
