Hello everyone,
Please could I request your ideas .....
I have the following setup
We are running 10.20 on a K570. I need to increase size of some vg00 areas ???.
The o/s currently sits on 2 x 2Gb disks internal to the K, mirrored onto 1 x 4Gb disk in a HASS unit
What I want to do is replace the 2 x 2Gb internal disks with 2 x 9Gb???s and have the o/s mirrored across them
My question is how to go about doing this :
I have two suggestions and would like to know which is best ???..
1/ I could reduce the 4Gb out of the root mirror leaving it on the 2 x 2Gb???s and perform an Ignite UX backup to DLT. Then when complete, I could replace the 2 x 2???s with 2 x 9???s, lay down the o/s from DLT to one of the 9???s and when complete, mirror across to the other 9.
2/ Reduce the 2 x 2Gb???s out of the root mirror, replace the 2 internal 2???s with 9???s. Mirror the existing 4 across onto one of the 9???s, reduce the 4Gb out of the mirror (leaving the o/s on one of the 9???s), then mirror onto the remaining 9. This would involve
Looking at vgdisplay for vg00, max PE per PV is only 2000, so I imagine that I???ll need to go option 1, as I???ll be using 9Gb disks. Can anyone confirm whether you can increase max PE per PV using an Ignite recovery ??? is it an advnaced option or something ?
I am a little scared about the following :
In option 1, telling it to lay down the o/s onto 1 x 9Gb disk having come from 2 x 2Gb???s
In option 2, extensive lvsync commands which can take ages in my experience (I only have a small timeframe in which to complete this work).
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
