Hi,
I'm getting the following errors in the syslog, repeated multiple times.
Sep 23 11:07:53 hpl5430 inetd[967]: bootps/udp: bind: Address already in use
Sep 23 11:07:53 hpl5430 inetd[967]: bootps/udp: Service enabled
Sep 23 11:17:53 hpl5430 inetd[967]: bootps/udp: bind: Address already in use
Sep 23 11:17:53 hpl5430 inetd[967]: bootps/udp: Service enabled
Sep 23 11:27:53 hpl5430 inetd[967]: bootps/udp: bind: Address already in use
Sep 23 11:27:53 hpl5430 inetd[967]: bootps/udp: Service enabled
Sep 23 11:37:53 hpl5430 inetd[967]: bootps/udp: bind: Address already in use
.
.
.
Oct 3 13:26:02 hpl5430 bootpd[5525]:
Oct 3 13:26:03 hpl5430 bootpd[5525]: reading "/etc/bootptab"
Oct 3 13:26:03 hpl5430 bootpd[5525]: read 1 entries from "/etc/bootptab"
Oct 3 13:26:03 hpl5430 bootpd[5525]: reading "/etc/dhcpdeny"
Oct 3 13:26:03 hpl5430 bootpd[5525]: error opening "/etc/dhcpdeny": No such file or directory
Oct 3 13:26:17 hpl5430 inetd[967]: bootps/udp: Died on signal 11
.
.
.
The first batch of errors stop before the 2nd batch start. This appears to have started after I cleaned up some of the services used by informix by editing /etc/services and then restarting inetd, but this was a couple of weeks ago now and I'm not sure of the exact sequence of events.
I've also recently added the -TCP_DELAY option to the telnet line of the inetd.conf file to resolve problems with MS telnet clients. Plus the -b /etc/issue paramter to get the security warning displayed for telnet users.
Any ideas how to persue this?
Thanks in advance.
Tony.

Solution
Hi, Tony!
Concerning the 1st chunk of message you should have a look at doc BHERRKBRC00002819 (Kill all running bootpds and run inetd -c.)
The 2nd problem is reported for 11.11 as CR JAGae30333 and should be fixed with the next bootpd patch... your local response center should be able to provide you with a pre-release of this patch.
Regards...
Dietmar.
