init of hardware not successful. id=7b and my_isc=c0

I have installed HP UX 10.20 for EM-OS (Marconi product) application and the J2240 server after some days halted itself without the user doing anything.
The message found in the log files is the following:
init of hardware not successful. id=7b and my_isc=c0
can anybody help me what this message is about? What kind of hardware has the problem?

In which log file are you seeing the error?
Are there any other messages before / after the line you provided?

My memory fails me today. The J2240 is a workstation correct?

Cheers

This message is displayed many times, probably because there are some trials to solve the problem. The last records in the OLDsyslog.log files are the followings:

J2240 is a HP server. It is a bit old but is used for EMOS applications due to old HP UX version.

It's a series 700 workstation.

Because of the "audio_init_failed" - do you need a soundcard for your application?

Hope this helps!

Re: init of hardware not successful. id=7b and my_isc=c0

the audio card is not necessary. it is used only in case the customer needs to hear a sound if an alarm from the elements supervised by the EMOS application comes. But this customer did not have this option working before.

So even if there is a problem with the sound card, the customer does not need it. Could this cause the halt of the server? Can we disable the card or unplug a cable so as it won't be used?

Re: init of hardware not successful. id=7b and my_isc=c0

Here's a link to a Service manual for a J class workstation. I couldn't find reference to a J class server.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpv37968/lpv37968.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Take a look and see if it is indeed the same hardware.

It may help you isolate the problem.

Ignore my post I didn't see Torsten's post regarding it being a series 700 workstation.

What does the
NIOCDISABLEDEFAULT

mean? You can find it in syslog before the unexpected shutdown.
Also do you know what the RUN F11F CPU0 HP J2240 displayed in the front panel means?

Cheers,
Torsten.

Re: init of hardware not successful. id=7b and my_isc=c0

RUN F11F CPU0 HP J2240

This is a normal running status.

Hope this helps!
