other flavours of linux redhat etc?
Thanks in Advance

Re: Installation of HP_UX

Hi N.
The installation's process of HP-Ux is very easy. You must boot of cd install and answer the questions of install process. (please read release notes before install system)

In linux instalation you have make partition of disk and is more dificult

Re: Installation of HP_UX

Shalom,

Before Red Hat had an Enterprise edition, HP-UX had one of the best text based, window style install systems.

There are tabs and the install process is reasonably easy to havigate.

Re: Installation of HP_UX

First of all, if your server does not have a graphic card, you'll need to configure the iLO/MP or install it using a serial terminal hooked up on the console port. It think that only low-end servers have graphic cards, and they come as an option when ordered with HP-UX.

Then the installation itself is pretty straightforward. If you're not looking for anything fancy, the "wizard" mode will suffice. However, I recommend using the advanced mode and review the initial filesystem sizes, as they might be too small for your needs and the root filesystem is complicated to increase once the OS is installed.

Re: Installation of HP_UX

Hello,

The build of any Unix server is relativley easy and menu-driven.

The problem is GOOD PLANNING!

Here is a generic plan I use for many years now.

If you plan properly, the Unix server
will last long and nobody in support teams
will swear at you in the future :)

In my 23 years of work in Unix, so often
I have seen servers that need to undergo
major upgrade within a year or two of
their commissioning - simply because the planning was poor.

Cheers,
