installation skript on HP-UX 10.20 and 11.00

I want to install some directories and datas on several HP-UX systems. How can I automate the installation and how can I prevent that I don't lose datas by overwriting them if the datas already exists? And is it possible not to remove datas like /etc/hosts, but to put additional datas on /etc/hosts? Are there any programs already exists, that I can use? If yes, where can I get the program? If not, can somebody give an idea how i can write a shell program to solve my problem. Thanks, Mussie

Mussie,
This can be accomplished by using Ignite. You will create an Ignite server and configure on the server, what data to push to each client. Because you have so many conditions (does data exist, append to /etc/hosts, etc.), you will need a comprehensive understanding of how to use the Ignite software.

Be sure to see HP's support and software website for Ignite at:

HP's Education page for Ignite is:
