Re: Installed new 10/100Mbit ethernet card
I got no error messages anymore but still there is no new lan card output with lanscan command:
I catch this during boot up process:
"Successfully saved configuration in NVM and in /etc/eisa/system.sci.
One or more boards have been successfully added to the configuration.
Since none of the existing boards have been re-configured, there will be
no need to reboot the system. The drivers for the new boards will now be
initialized.
If the required drivers are not present in the kernel, they
must be added before the boards will be usable. Refer to the
"E/ISA Configuration Documentation".
eisa_config finished"
With "ioscan -f" i still get:
unknown -1 20/5/4 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN EISA card HWP1990
PS: I ve changed network card with the same one (just to check if "old" one is broken) in PCI slot 4. eisa_config wants
!HWP1990.CFG.
Can anyone send me a link to !HWP1990.CFG ?
Brgds,
S.

Re: Installed new 10/100Mbit ethernet card
just spotted one thing I didnt consider.
You have the older 100VG eisa lan card not the standard 100BT card.
(the card may have the part number J3577 on it)
You need the driver for this card which is A4302A on the Apps cd1.
install this and this will have the required CFG file needed for the Eisa config
once this is installed you should be able to run the
#eisa_config
utility to verify the card aswell.
Then you should be able to configure the card in SAM

Re: Installed new 10/100Mbit ethernet card
what version of hpux is that you are running?
it maybe that you have to buy a lic for the lancard which will give you a codeword. You had to do originally with 10.20

Re: Installed new 10/100Mbit ethernet card
just had alook through my notes for those cards and you needed the lic J2694BA for that card and to install that software.
unfortunatly support finished for that card at hpux 11.0, hence no driver available
http://docs.hp.com/en/5187-1306/ch01s02.html
check this support matrix.
if you have an 11.0 cd the driver may work from this, but? dont know.

Re: Installed new 10/100Mbit ethernet card
1. with ioscan command check the new network card is seen and CLAIMED
2. run lanscan to check the status of lan cards in system. New card may show DOWN at this point of time
3. use SAM>Network & communications> Netowrk cards to configure the new card with IP address and alias name
4. After you have finished, run lanscan to see that both lan cards are seen UP
