Re: Installing & Configuring LDAP Server
Take a look at these links:
This document gives an excellent overview of LDAP and HP-UX integration and reasons why users should consider it:
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/internet/uxint.html
This document is specific to the LDAP-UX Client Services product:
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J4269-90006/J4269-90006.html
This document is specific to the NIS/LDAP Gateway product:
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J4269-90001/J4269-90001.html
Release notes for NIS/LDAP Gateway product:
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J4269-90008/J4269-90008.html
Release notes for the NIS/LDAP Gateway product.
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J4269-90002/J4269-90002.html
Basically, because of increase in complexity of NIS+ and its history of problems with successful implementations, LDAP has moved in as an alternative to NIS+ and is fast becoming the open-standard protocol for accessing information services.
Most UNIX vendors are now providing some form of LDAP enablement. In June 2000, HP released two products that will allow HP-UX to be LDAP enabled. The two products are:
LDAP-UX Client Services
NIS/LDAP Gateway
Each can be described fully in the links above.
Hope this helps.
Tony
