Re: Installing and configuring ssh

ssh is working fine now, Thanks
I guess I have to do the same on each server in my environment, Also Does ssh uses .shosts. Could you give some tips on the best authentication process I should set-up. Do I have to add port 22 to /etc/services ?
Thx.

Re: Installing and configuring ssh

Yes, ssh uses .shosts file. It's not necessarily to mention the port number 22 in the /etc/services file. Make sure that you are not assigning that port number for any other services

Re: Installing and configuring ssh

Andrew,
I would recommend using key encryption over .shosts. It is more secure and is more efficient than the .shosts method. Just my thoughts, but hey, your using ssh, so that's a step in the right direction.

Re: Installing and configuring ssh

HI Andrew
The openssh 3.1 from hp software porting depot with SD format, I have found the password expiration do not get traped for users. so I would recomend downloading the source code and compiling it with pam.

Check following link, responce from Craig Rants
