installing canon and xerox document center...
I try to install remote printer queue for a Canon IR330-400PCL and a Xerox Workcenter Pro 45 on an HP-UX 11i system. There is no HP JetDirect interface on those print center, they have their own interface. I know the printers are well configurer to print, I'm able to print in Windows. When I configure the queue on UNIX side, I use SAM -> printers and plotters -> Add remote printer:
as the remote printer name I use "lp" like I always did for most Xerox docucenter I got here, but with those two it don't work, when I do an lp, the file queue, but when I look in the queue I got this error:
I tried the printer queue with my Windows system and it worked... I just don't get it... Do I need some special "driver" to use those printer???
Regards Jonathan

Re: installing canon and xerox document center...
You need to know what the queue name on that printer is. There may be a default or there may be one explicitly set.
You'll probably have to look through that printer's menu to find it.
But you have to use that for the "Remote Printer Name" value.
You may be able to glean this info off of a Winblows box that this printer is already set up on as well.

Jeff

Re: installing canon and xerox document center...
I have not used these printer before so I can not comment availability of hpux drivers for them, but your best bet is to contact the vendor who sold/leased these printers to you and have them locate the drivers for hpux.
UNIX because I majored in cryptology...
