Hi Zaov,
Disk Mirroring is the best and recommended RAID configuration for HP-UX OS installation.

Thanks

zaov,

it is more subjective and also depands on your Storage. Personally I like hardware mirroring or raid 5.

For Os shoude be RAID 1 it's recommended. And data shoude be RAID 5.

Re: installing HP-UX on Itanium

Does your hardware supports a RAID5? A RAID 5 by software will likely give only poor performance.

If your hardware supports RAID functionality, use it. Otherwise use LVM to create a software based mirror (RAID1 or 0+1).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Yep, for your root vg(vg00), allways use raid1,
and for data, RAID5 is the best idea, but as torsten says only if you have hardware raid
Windows?, no thanks

Shalom,

For the OS. Raid 1. Some will dispute that with regards to swap.

For data, depends on the data. Mostly read database's read faster on raid 5. Heavy write databases write faster on raid 1.
