Can some one tell me if there is a way to install hp-ux11 using an ascii terminal instead of an HP terminal. I try and every time that it goes into the fancy screens it gets confused
Thanks
Juan

Re: installing hp-ux with ASCII terminal (dec vt100)
I can not find out how to set ther TERM var. when I boot from the CDROM. I think the CD assumes an HP term.
Thanks
Juan

SolutionA K-class machine will let you configure it to HP, non-HP, or auto-detect on startup. An L-class or N-class machine will let you choose hpterm or vt100. If you change it, it should remain as the default terminal type for all service processor and pre-boot activity on the console. I tried this a few weeks ago while trying to install a new server through Ignite, and it worked great. Hope this helps.

Re: installing hp-ux with ASCII terminal (dec vt100)
If you have a PC around there, you might try downloading this free HP Term emulator instead of using that ASCII terminal.

You didn't mention which HPUX computer system you are trying to do the install on, but you will probably have to get a converter to go from the 25 pin male connecter on the console cable to 9 pin female on the PC.

Thanks. I assume that you do this as the system is coming up? when the 10 second window is shown?
