Installing ignite server question

We currently have an ignite server in our environment which is ALSO our enterprise backup server.

For a bunch of issues I need to setup a 2nd ignite server. This server will be used to store ignite images of the main ignite server.

I've installed the ignite software and am now configuring it.

I am at the Server Setup: Software Depot Setup screen. Where it's asking which method to use to install from a depot:
Copy CD/DVD
Use CD/DVD
Use Installed Depot
Skip Depot configuration

What happens if I use the "Skip Depot Configuration"?

Can I still create images onto this server do a remote boot recovery if I don't configure the software depot?

Re: Installing ignite server question

Skip the depot configuration if you want.

We have 3 ignite servers here that we use just for storing make-net-recovery images. None are setup as a depot server to do installs from.

Re: Installing ignite server question

Hi Kevin,

Creation of Depot is required only when you use this Ignite server for installing servers as COLD INSTALL ( install from scratch) in such case you can create the depot of your desired OS Release and use that for installation of multiple servers ( as a fresh)

Otherwise, if you SKIP this also you CAN use this server for creating recovery images / golden images etc and can be used to recover the clients without any issue.

With Regards,

Siva.
