Installing Ignite

I'm new to HPUX System Admin and I would like to know what steps should be followed to install a new version of Ignite on 10.20 and 11.0 HP9000's? Are there any patches that need to be loaded to the system?

Re: Installing Ignite

Ignite is on the apps CD and is unprotected SW. Do the swinstall on apps CD 4 (I believe).

Re: Installing Ignite

Hi:

Get the most recent version of Ignite from the Web site below. Read the notes and make sure you have the necessary pax patch for sparse files!

Re: Installing Ignite

Hello Susan,

get the newest version from "www.software.hp.com/products/IUX",
install it with "swinstall(1m)", and then
start the GUI with "ignite". The startup
window give you the change to "setup", and
yes, that is the way to go for you (it is
pretty easy that way). Have your Core-OS-CD
at hand, and plenty of space below "/var/opt/ignite"...

Re: Installing Ignite

I have found that the "Ignite-UX Admin Guide" B2355-90677 from http://www.docs.hp.com/ has been very useful.

Re: Installing Ignite

I have found that doing an swremove of the old version of Ignite and then installing the new version of Ignite works best. I have had problems in the past when installing a new version on top of an older version of Ignite.
