Instant Recovery on Different Server other than the original Server
Hi
I have created a backup copy using ZTB backup option for Oracle data base with Instant Recovery option enabled for Server named "A". My question is can i can do the instant recovery for Server "A" backup on different server. Basically I want to copy this data on to different server thru instant recovery option. Is it possible?
TIA
Sri

Re: Instant Recovery on Different Server other than the original Server
Shalom Sri,
Its possible to copy the data files, but there is no guarantee it will work.
You could just as easily shut the database and use scp to copy the files to the new host and that procedure, known as cloning has some oracle support.
You could also do an export/import, which would be supported.
We took cold backups nightly at my last job using that methodology, shut and copy. Then, later the copy would get picked up on tape.
