Insufficient swap resource

Hello All,

I am running VM2.0 on Rx8640 server and created 6 VMs.

Memory Details
----------------
Total size of memory allocated to VM - 42 GB
Host server RAM size - 128 GB
Host server SWAP size - 110 GB

While starting VM, I am getting the following error message.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOSTSERVER:>:/ # hpvmstart -P VM4
HPVM guest VM4 configuration problems:
Warning 1: Insufficient swap resource for guest.
These problems may prevent HPVM guest VM4 from booting.
hpvmstart: Unable to continue
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, I am sure If I increase the swap on Host my problem will be solved. But like to know the logic on the relations between host swap and VM Memory allocated.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
Chocks

Re: Insufficient swap resource

Shalom,

Last install I did, last week, HP-UX required swap to be at least 50% of RAM. Forcing less is possible by reducing swap after instalaltion, however it normally makes the system unstable.
