I known that disck c0t6d0 is from SCSI Ultra320 and it is one disk that are in the RX7640. But what is the c3t6d0?, When I do the olrad, it puts that is in slot 8 chassis 1, but in this slot, there are only two lan's interfaces. What is happening??

Thanks a lot of!

Re: Internal disk in vpars

Hi,

Your server is having 2 internal disks.

Disk c3t6d0 is connected to 1/0/1/1/0/4/1 ext_bus HP AB290-60001 PCI/PCI-X U320 SCSI 2-port U320 SCSI/2-port 1000B-T Combo Adapter & disk c0t6d0 connected to 1/0/0/3/0 ext_bus SCSI Ultra320.

Re: Internal disk in vpars

Don't think too much about olrd & all ....

There is a easy way...

run command dd if=/dev/rdsk/c3t6d0 of=/dev/null bs=1024

Check which disk have LED which is very very busy.. that is your disk.

Re: Internal disk in vpars

Hi,

Your disk "/dev/dsk/c3t6d0" is connected through a combo card which has two lan ports and two scsi ports:

1/0/1/1/0/4/1 ext_bus HP AB290-60001 PCI/PCI-X U320 SCSI 2-port U320 SCSI/2-port 1000B-T Combo Adapter
1/0/1/1/0/4/1.6 target
1/0/1/1/0/4/1.6.0 disk HP 73.4GST373454LC

Re: Internal disk in vpars

when configuring vPars, you assign at the Bus Adapter level, or ba, so from your ioscan output:
1/0/0 ba Local PCI-X Bus Adapter (122e) <<<<
1/0/0/3/0 ext_bus SCSI Ultra320
1/0/0/3/0.6 target
1/0/0/3/0.6.0 disk HP 73.4GST373454LC
1/0/0/3/0.7 target
1/0/0/3/0.7.0 ctl Initiator
1/0/0/3/1 ext_bus SCSI Ultra320
1/0/0/3/1.2 target
1/0/0/3/1.2.0 disk _NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A
1/0/0/3/1.7 target
1/0/0/3/1.7.0 ctl Initiator
and

1/0/1 ba Local PCI-X Bus Adapter (12ee)
1/0/1/1/0 ba PCItoPCI Bridge
1/0/1/1/0/4/0 ext_bus HP AB290-60001 PCI/PCI-X U320 SCSI 2-port U320 SCSI/2-port 1000B-T Combo Adapter
1/0/1/1/0/4/0.7 target
1/0/1/1/0/4/0.7.0 ctl Initiator
1/0/1/1/0/4/1 ext_bus HP AB290-60001 PCI/PCI-X U320 SCSI 2-port U320 SCSI/2-port 1000B-T Combo Adapter
1/0/1/1/0/4/1.6 target
1/0/1/1/0/4/1.6.0 disk HP 73.4GST373454LC
1/0/1/1/0/4/1.7 target
1/0/1/1/0/4/1.7.0 ctl Initiator
1/0/1/1/0/6/0 lan HP AB290-60001 PCI/PCI-X 1000Base-T 2-port U320 SCSI/2-port 1000B-T Combo Adapter
1/0/1/1/0/6/1 lan HP AB290-60001 PCI/PCI-X 1000Base-T 2-port U320 SCSI/2-port 1000B-T Combo Adapter

so the two disks are on separate bus adapters.

Re: Internal disk in vpars

If you want to physically locate the disk, you can make it flash with stm:

# stm

In the HW tree you will see, select your disk with space key.
In the Menu do:

--> Tools --> Exercise --> Run

Your disk will start flashing and you can look for it.
To stop the flashing, select the disk and do:

--> Tools --> Tools Management --> Abort Tool

Re: Internal disk in vpars

Ok. They are on separated bus adapters, but the disc c0t6d0 and the c3t6d0 are two of the 4 disks that have the rx7640 at the front of it?

Thanks!

Re: Internal disk in vpars

yes, they are physical disks.
use the stm or dd method to identify which is which
e.g.
dd if=/dev/rdsk/c0t6d0 of=/dev/null bs=1024k count=500
and see whichdisk is flashing
repeat for /dev/rdsk/c3t6d0

Re: Internal disk in vpars

c3t6d0 should be the lower left one,and c1t2d0,the DVD_RW
