Invalid b_resid 0 b_bcount error

I did a tail on my messages file under /etc/adm/syslog and say the following messages:

dev lc022000 got invalid b_resid 0 b_bcount 8192, error = 0x7c

I have never seen this type of error, what does it mean.

Re: Invalid b_resid 0 b_bcount error

Hi,
very probably hardware (disk) problems.
Aren't there more messages companying this one like "disk xxx POWERFAILED"??
regards,
Thierry.

Re: Invalid b_resid 0 b_bcount error

yep, disk problems of maybe just the beginning of it.
If you have a support contract, call HP and log a call. It's better to have it replaced to soon than too late.
And keep a close eye on your backup, you might need them.
good luck,
Thierry.
