ioscan -fnCtape returns nothing

hpux 11.11.

ioscan -fnCtape returns nothing. comes back to command prompt.

any patch bundles I'm missing?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

I assume you have a tape drive attached? If so, are you certain it is powered on and working normally?

If ioscan does not return anything then that can a good sign that there is a malfunction with the device.

Any "unknown" entry in "ioscan -fn"?

Maybe the stape driver is not in the kernel.
Check and add if needed.

Go to SAM -> kernel config -> drivers and add the stape driver and reboot.
