IP conflict between Host and Guest

Hi gurus,
We have setup 6 VM on RX8640 and each VM using 4 ports on network switch that combined using Auto Port Aggregation (APA).On our host, we just using one port only. The problem is when we try to telnet to VM1, it direct to host instead of VM1.Then on VM1 I try to redo the IP configuration. It works fine but one minute later, it will direct to the host again. Need your help.

Re: IP conflict between Host and Guest

This sounds to me like a name resolution problem or a non-unique IP address. Please check this.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Hello,

do you mean that you have configured APA in the guests ? This is not supported.

If this is not the case, check all your systems (VM host and the guests) for IP ambiguity.

Re: IP conflict between Host and Guest

I've configured the APA on the host, not on the guest. Well as far as I noticed every VM have an unique IP.

Re: IP conflict between Host and Guest

Check each IP and hostname with nslookup and consider to post "hpvmnet".

Hope this helps!

As requested.

Re: IP conflict between Host and Guest

You are using 6 (!) different APA devices - do you really have sooo many NICs or just 4?

Check your APA config.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Yup.. 4 NIC or network switch ports combined to be one APA as named as vsw900, vsw901..etc. I will check on it

Link aggregation configuration at network switch is not correct. Thanks for your reply :)
