Thousands of errors from IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) have recently been directed to syslog.log.
The ia64 system is an rx2600 with HP-UX v11.22.
Any ideas on why this is occuring or how to begin diagnosing the cause?
Thanks in advance,
-Mark

SolutionPHKL_28407 (s700_800 11.22 IPMI Watchdog Timer Parameter Tuning) and somewhere in the description it says .. quote .."When the system is under very high stress, a message may appear in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log indicating that the system failed to send the IPMI Reset Watchdog Timer."
You may want to take a look ..

Here is a longshot doc/thread containing similar error text.
Might be worth a read.

Re: IPMI errors in syslog
The PHKL_28407 _appears_ to be an exact solution, and I intend to apply this. Unfortunately, HP's ITRC site is not responding at the moment due to either an outage or maintenance.
Btw, under different circumstances, I would eagerly apply the latest QPK. However, we are in a software development and testing environment. So, it is my objective to provide a stable and consistant environment, only applying updates after they have been identified and approved.
THANKS!

Re: IPMI errors in syslog
However, according to swlist output, the fileset _does_ exist. Should (can?) I force the application?
-Mark
Error from swinstall:
NOTE: The patch fileset "PHKL_28407.CORE2-KRN,r=1.0" may only be
installed upon a previously installed base fileset. The
specification for this base fileset is
"OS-Core.CORE2-KRN,fr=B.11.22,v=HP". Since there is no
fileset on the target or selected from the source which
matches this specification, fileset
"PHKL_28407.CORE2-KRN,r=1.0" will be excluded.
Yet:
monty[136]$ swlist -l fileset | grep 'OS-Core.CORE' | grep KRN
OS-Core.CORE-KRN B.11.22.%45 Core HP-UX kernel functionality
OS-Core.CORE2-KRN B.11.22.%45 Core HP-UX kernel generation files
