Is hp-ux commands works in fedora

Hi, i installed fedora 10 in my home, In my office we are using hp-ux 11iv3. i am new to unix, i want to practice some commands, can i practice in fedora, Is commands are same in both the hp-ux and fedora, if it is not which os can i use for practice in my desktop. bcoz i cant practice in my office, i wnat to learn practically instead of reading PDF's.

You can use all the standard unix commands on each standard unix system (more or less), but for proprietary hp-ux commands (example: ioscan,lanscan, etc) you need real hp-ux.

yeah, but not all HP proprietary commands. But general unix command will work.

Yes, you can, if you are new to unix, you should always refer to man pages for their respective commands.

in all unix some commands are similar but others are different, if u want to compare the commands between different ux flours

learn it, learn it very well. any unix you can use is good enough. but you have to learn and put time into it, the main point is that you understand what you do and why unix does what it does.

if you get past that, any new unix you may encounter, you will be able to figure out the little differences quickly and easily enough.
