Hi,

Jetadmin is not further supported by HP, but you can find the depot software by following address:

HPUX10.20
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/HP10d621.SD

HPUX11.00
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/HP11d621.SD

Re: Is Jet admin still available?

JetAdmin was replaced by two products: HPPI and WebJetAdmin. I don't anyone who uses WebJetAdmin on Unix, but HP Printer Installer has everything JetAdmin has other than the loss of xjdm (which hpnpadmin sort of replaces). As mentioned, JetAdmin is obsolete but worse, it contains known Y2K bugs that will never be fixed.

The new interactive menu program is hppi (/opt/hpnpl/bin/hppi) and has simpler menu system with individual menu help. However, just as in the old JetAdmin, the commands addqueue and removequeue are all you really need for printers that are already attached to the network and ready to use (see man pages). HPPI also understands new printers and has scripts to handle these new models.

Re: Is Jet admin still available?

We use webjetadmin on an hp 11 box on one of our networks, and it really is a nice tool. The features that I like the most are:
ease of upgrading printer firmware (on the fly)
Inventory use (what Do I have on the net - over 400 printers)
Status (when we get a trouble ticket - easy to scope out the printer.
