Is mixed mode hardware supported with SG

We have One blade BL 870C server and one Rx 6600. And we want to create 2 node cluster with external storage. is there any way to achieve this.

Re: Is mixed mode hardware supported with SG

Shalom,

The nodes of a service guard cluster do not need to be the same hardware. They do need to have access to shared storage, so the packages, can activate volume groups at start up.

Both of these systems are Integrity IA64 systems, so running software in active passive mode is not unusual at all for this setup.

This is a general configuration document for Service Guard:

Re: Is mixed mode hardware supported with SG

You certainly can do this, as long as the two servers runthe same OS version, and the same Serviceguard version.
Read the manuals for Serviceguard at http://docs.hp.com/en/ha

Thanks for the reply.
To configure shared storage with one blade and one rx do we need SAN switch compulsory.Blade connects to Midplane of enclosure and Rx will have seperate FC ports available. So if we have storage how do we have to confg it. And is there any performance issue with this kind.
please let me know

Re: Is mixed mode hardware supported with SG

Shalom again,

Based on the fact that the Blade probably does not have a scsi port, I would think both systems would need fiber channel (HBA) access to the same shared storage. A fiber switch does provide this.

It is important that the OS and SG be the same for the cluster to function at all.

I do not forsee any performance issues. A fabric network will provide excellent performance. Any issues in this area will stem from the construction of the LUN's presented to the two systems.

A raid 5 LUN used for a write intensive database application will not perform as well as one build raid 10 or raid 1.
