Hi Ted:
From the 'fbackup' man pages comes this warning:
fbackup allocates resources that are not returned to the system if it is killed in an ungraceful manner. If it is necessary to kill
fbackup, send it a SIGTERM; not a SIGKILL.
Regards!

Re: Is there a safe way to quit fbackup?
Hi Ted
Do a fuser -c /cdrom and kill the process associated with the CDROM. Then you can unmount the CDROM . This would stop the fbackup .

Re: Is there a safe way to quit fbackup?
Ted-
If you happen to be using SAM to run backup, you can just close the window that opens and shows all the files. It will show a message saying that fbackup is exiting and then it will close. If you kill it ungracfully, it can cause problems becuase the device (dev/rmt/0m, for example) may not free up. I had some problems with backup killing on it's own, and eventually it tied up all the device choices and I had to reboot.
